23 de February de 2026The recognition awarded to Hospital Clínico San Carlos by the Spanish Olympic Committee at the 2nd Conference on ‘We Can Prevent Cancer’ highlights a model in which physical exercise forms a structural part of cancer treatment.
This approach is being developed in collaboration with Rey Juan Carlos University through CIDE and the GIAFES group, led by Professor Alfonso Jiménez. The programme integrates physical exercise into all phases of the cancer process — from ‘prehabilitation’ to recovery after treatment — with the aim of reducing side effects, improving quality of life and generating solid scientific evidence.
The initiative combines clinical intervention, research and training for healthcare professionals, consolidating the role of exercise as a key tool in cancer care.
