CIDE Doctoral Training Centre

The CIDE is part of the research training infrastructure of the new Doctoral Program in Education and Sport Sciences of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (link to the Doctoral Program website, under accreditation process).

As a young Centre and Research Group, and until the launching of this new Doctoral Program, we have a small initial number of doctoral students, but all of them have external funding and carry out innovative projects in collaboration with different partners.

  • Adrián Castaño, Optimization of sprinting capabilities in sports of team, Departmental FPI. Supervisors: Pedro Jiménez Reyes, Miguel Fernández Del Olmo. Defense date: June 5, 2024.
  • • Ana M. Lavín Pérez, Effects of exercise prescription based on heart rate variability on cardiotoxicity and physical and mental health in breast cancer survivors after chemotherapy treatment. Supervisors: Alfonso Jiménez Gutiérrez, Daniel Collado Mateo. International and Industrial PhD. Defense date: December 12, 2023.

University Master's Degree in Physical Preparation for Health and Exercise in Chronic Pathologies

From the area of Physical and Sports Education of the Faculty of Education, Sports and Interdisciplinary Studies, in close collaboration with the CIDE, we have launched a master’s degree (60 ECTS) in Physical Preparation for Health and Exercise in Chronic Pathologies that starts its activity in the academic year 2024/25 under the direction of Alfonso Jiménez PhD., Director of the CIDE.

This Master's Degree, inspired and informed by the quality research developed at CIDE, has as its fundamental objective, to acquire a series of postgraduate skills and competencies that will allow future graduates to be able to implement, with guarantees of effectiveness and maximum safety, healthy physical exercise programs for the general population, as well as adapted exercise programs for people affected by chronic non-communicable diseases, always under the direction of medical staff.

High Digital Performance Program for ADESP:

Under the name ALTO RENDIMIENTO DIGITAL(https://altorendimientodigital.es/), ADESP (Asociación del Deporte Español, the umbrella organization for all sports federations https://adesp.es/)  has launched an innovative training program, with a university degree from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, for the sports community to improve their skills in digitization, innovation and technology, as well as in skills, culture and project management strategy. 

CIDE researchers are part of the program's faculty and we are in charge of evaluating the program's impact.
