The Centre for Sports Science Research (CIDE) has improved for the third consecutive year its position in the international ranking of Shanghai for Sports Science (2024 Shanghai Ranking for Sports Science). Thus, we have moved from position 251-300 in 2022 to position 151-200 in 2023 (100 places up), and in this 2024 we have climbed again, reaching the group of 101-150 (another 50 places improvement).
In 2016, ShanghaiRanking first published this ranking in sports science, adopting a unique methodology that highlights the performance of more than 300 universities with sports-related units. The list of the top 300 universities is based on the measurement of their publication capacity, citations, citations per publication, 25% of journal publications and international collaborative publications. The bibliometric data are collected from the Web of Science database with a time window of five years.
This result is especially relevant if we consider our small size, compared to most of our competitors (departments and/or faculties with a volume of research and teaching staff at least 3 times higher than ours).
